Oy vey. That last one is Debbie Bliss? Was she trying to knit something for one of those South American cowboys that sit on the really horrible looking wooden saddles? I think they call 'em Gauchos. I just picked up some LPW for Samus, but, like you, I think I'd like a little bit of waist shaping and will take a gander at Kepler.

LOL, I almost dare not come to knit group anymmore as I kinda sorta do like ponchos ;) But not really any of the ones you have shown, I've designed one for my son which he wears in the winter and I also have one pattern that interests me from the alpaca yarn company.
I dare to be different :)

I think the blue is the worst. It looks like the lady may actually be reasonably thin, but the poncho makes her look positively obese!

There should be a law. NO PONCHOS for anyone over the age of, say-- 12?

At first, I liked them. Now, they are everywhere, they are scary, and they make everyone look fat or pregnant.

There is no shape to them. None. Even the ones with shaping. Toss capelets and shrugs in the bin as well. Why? What is the purpose of some tight little piece of fabric stretched across a person's chest? It says to me-- I'm too lazy to knit an entire garment, so I cheated and made this.

Stab me with all the knitting needles in the world. I'll make a poncho. But only for a child.

My usual, never-to-be-humble opinion.

(That blue poncho would make Calista Flockhart look like the twin of Rosie O'Donnell.)

The Patternworks catalogue is a constant source of amusement. I mean, who picks those awful patterns. And worst of all, who knits them?

Hi There!

I actually quite like that finalist 1, it should look nice with jeans and high heels... Would you have of any chance the pattern?
Could you email it if you have it?

Thanks a lot!
