I usually say "anything goes"... by which I mean that you can do whatever sock that strikes your fancy. You can go wild, or do your favourite sock, or try out a sock you've been wanting to try. I imagine your sock pal meant something similar.

Awww. Poor you. lol But at least she didn't say something like "but not purple." You know that's the only color that would appeal to you during all your searches!! My pal said "no pink or lavendar" so does that mean if it has pink or purple blips in there then I shouldn't use that yarn?

Next thing I see is her first pair of finished socks in Lorna's Laces Black Pearl with all kinds of purple in it!! So who knows.

All I can say is don't make it too hard on yourself like I am or you'll never get finished. heh I've already started a pair and decided "no" and had to start over from square one. :)

I'm sure whatever you make her will be fine but I can relate to your frustration. I'm no good at the "Anything goes" swaps either. I'm sure she just wants you to have fun with whatever you knit but always want the field to be narrowed a bit more than "anything". Good luck with the Sisu.

Oh, my gosh - I was totally cracking up during this post. I'm sorry I caused you so much stress! But really, you did awesome. Your socks will be worn the second they're out of the wash, I have no doubt. Thanks again!

Your (apparently a little too unpicky) sockapaloooza pal
